Οι Σταυροί Βάσεως μπορούν να διακοσμήσουν το κάλυμμα της Αγίας Τράπεζας, η οποία συμβολίζει "Την Τράπεζαν εκείνην, εφ' ης ο Ιησούς Χριστός εν τω μυστικω Δείπνω παρέδωκεν εις τους μαθητάς αυτού το μυστήριον της θείας ευχαριστίας" , ή το κάλυμμα της Ιεράς Προθέσεως όπου ο ιερέας προετοιμάζει την Θεία Μετάληψη για να λάβουν οι πιστοί το Σώμα και το Αίμα του Ιησού Χριστού.
